Donate blood, share life | World Blood Donor Day

        June 14, 2023, is the 20th World Blood Donor Day. This year's slogan for World Blood Donor Day in our country is "Donate blood, share life," and the theme of the event is "Gathering youthful positive energy, donating blood selflessly to spread love."

The origin of World Blood Donor Day
      To encourage more people to donate blood voluntarily and to promote the implementation of global blood safety programs, the World Health Organization, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations, and the International Society of Blood Transfusion designated June 14, 2004, as the first World Blood Donor Day. This date was chosen because June 14 is the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, the Nobel Prize winner who discovered the ABO blood group system.

        The number of voluntary blood donors in our country increased from 328,000 in 1998 to 15.53 million in 2020. The continuously growing group of voluntary blood donors has raised higher demands for blood source quality control.
